About Greg
Greg T. Clifton, CFP®, ChFC®, MBA
Founder & Managing Member
Greg T. Clifton is the Founder and Managing Member of Clifton Capital Advisors. He established the firm to serve families whose financial lives involve meaningful complexity, in which decisions about taxes, cash flow, investment risk, and long-term continuity must be made deliberately and in coordination.
Greg entered the financial services industry at age 20 and chose independence early, establishing his advisory practice in 1990. That decision shaped a career focused on long-term stewardship rather than institutional affiliation or product alignment. For more than three decades, he has advised individuals and families through multiple market cycles, tax regime changes, business transitions, and multigenerational planning challenges.
His work is grounded in the belief that effective wealth management is not a collection of isolated recommendations, but an integrated discipline requiring judgment, context, and a clear understanding of how decisions interact over time. That philosophy underpins Clifton Capital Advisors’ family-office-style framework, emphasizing coordination across planning disciplines and continuity across generations.
Greg is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional, a Chartered Financial Consultant®, and holds a Master of Business Administration from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. His professional path reflects a non-traditional trajectory marked by intellectual rigor, independence of thought, and sustained professional development.
In addition to his advisory work, Greg is a majority owner of several privately held operating businesses outside the financial services industry. Each is structured with full-time professional management, allowing him to engage from the perspective of ownership, governance, and capital allocation rather than day-to-day operations.
He has also served in leadership and board roles with civic and nonprofit organizations in North Texas, including service as board chairman and advisory board member for arts, business, and community institutions. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Greg maintains long-standing personal interests that reflect a respect for discipline, engineering, and craftsmanship.
